Meet the Scout Team for 30th Warrington Scout Group!
My Scouting Experience commenced back in 1974 as a cub scout with 2nd Cheadle, as in those days there weren’t any Beavers.
I became a scout at 2nd Cheadle before moving to 1st Kimbolton and then 2nd Oundle, where I was awarded my Chief Scouts Award in 1981
I volunteered as a parent helper at 30th Warrington West when my son became a Beaver in 2006 and then took out my warrant as an Assistant Scout Leader in 2012. I completed my Leader Training and was awarded my Wood Badge in November 2013.
In 2019 I was fortunate enough to be selected to attend the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA, as part of the International Support Team. In 2023 I will be attending the 25 World Scout Jamboree In Sae-Man-Geum, Korea, as a deputy Unit Leader for Cheshire and the UK Contingent
In January 2021, I took over the role as Scout Section Leader when Ian relinquished the position to take up the role of Group Scout Leader.
I became involved with the 30th Warrington Scouts group when my son Aidan joined the Beaver section and joined the parent helper rota, this continued throughout his time in Cubs.
In 2013 Ian asked for a willing volunteer to join the group as they needed a female leader to assist in the Scout nights and at the camps, so in October 2013 I joined the group as Scout Section Assistant and it is a role that I have loved so much that in August 2015 I decided to start my training for Assistant Scout Leader.
Scouts definitely becomes a hugely rewarding part of your life. It is fantastic to go away with young people on camp and see their confidence, and abilities grow during that time. I think sometimes the Leaders have just as much fun as the Scouts do!
